Happy New Year!
We hope you have had a great start to 2015 and enjoyed the Christmas celebrations. We are now back from France and Pete is starting his swim, bike and run sessions. The pool sessions begin at Plainmoor pool next week.
Now it is time to commit to our goals for 2015.
As a goal for 2015, Pete is planning to participate in the Dart 10 k swim and will use the Geopark long distance swims as warm-up events in the training process.
Laura is targeting olympic distance races this year as part of a long term plan to compete at Wimbleball with Tracey Fitzgerald in 2016.
Pete is pleased to be coaching Glen Bevan, a seasoned endurance athlete who is new to swimming. Pete will be helping Glen improve his swimming for his goal of a 1 mile swim, 2 mile kayak, 250m bike, marathon, 250 mile bike…nutter?!
But, first, let’s congratulate some final performances from 2014…
A big weldone to Paul Congdon (all the way from Australia!) who competed in his first ocean swim in December. We met Paul at Pete’s beginners’ triathlon course at Plainmoor pool at the start of 2014. At the time, Paul was just learning to swim and we didn’t know of his plans to move to Australia but he has since re-contacted Pete for advice on the ocean swim. A few weeks later Paul emailed to say that he beat 12 others out of 1650 people (one of which were male) in the 2400m swim and smashed his target time of 90 minutes in 59 minutes 12 seconds.
In addition, Tracey is right back at it. She completed the tough Endurance life Coastal 16 miler in Dorset.
Also, Becky Brown has been working hard with her training plans set by Pete and has reduced her 5k park run time from 24 minutes to 20:58. Her critical 400m swim time has also gone down 51 seconds too!
Meanwhile, Dave got a PB at the Bedford Half marathon of 1.28. Good running Dave and good luck with the cross country! See you in May for the first Devon “Weekend Warrior” training camp.
So weldone and all the best for 2015!
Best Wishes,
Laura and Pete
