May Blog From Pete and Laura

Hello everyone!

It’s nearly May! Hope you are looking forward to a long bank holiday weekend come rain or shine.

Triathlon Swim Coaching in Devon

So we already know that PeteWilbyTriathlon offers fantastic triathlon swim coaching in Devon. But May is set to be even better!

Pete will be back from Mallorca on May 4th and will bring his extra coaching experience and skills with him. He has been working hard on video-analysis and has found it is a really effective way to vastly improve swim stroke.

Underwater video is a great way to analyse what is going on with the stroke under the water.  It is possible to slow the footage down and mark references for comparison.  Pete says "It works a bit like a mirror does in the morning, before work, when you tidy yourself up".  Top athletes use video analysis to help fine tune their stroke for those marginal gains.  Rob Brundish (pro Ironman athlete) has been making the most of the underwater video to improve his stroke.

Any ability swimmer can benefit.  Check out this before-and-after video to see how video analysis has helped Johnathon (TriCamp guest) in just a one hour 121 session with Pete:

‘Weekend Warrior’ Training Camps in Devon

May also brings the first of the PeteWilbyTriathlon ‘Weekend Warrior’ training camps in Devon. Bringing the fun from Mallorca, Pete will be coaching David Wilby, James  Sands and Peter Pickering for their first Super Sprint Triathlon at London, Docklands this summer. These weekend warriors will be thoroughly briefed on proper wetsuit fitting, open water tactics, group riding, ascending and descending on the bike.  They will partake in core stability and beach circuits, an open water skills session and pool based video session, beautiful cycle rides and a run drills and pacing session.
They will be travelling from London to enjoy what Teignmouth has to offer: The outdoor lido pool, the sea, the great cycle routes and running on the sea wall.  It will be a lot of training in a small space of time.

Fancy having a go at a “Weekend Warrior” Training Camp?

You won’t be disappointed! Even if you’re local, you’ll benefit from great quality coaching and lifeguarded sea swimming. Whether you want to be a ‘Weekend Warrior’ to gain speed, confidence or miles- Pete can help! Email, tweet, phone or drop a comment on the Facebook page!

Request for Feedback

A note from Laura: Please let me know what you would like to read in the PeteWilbyTriathlon blog, tips for improvement would be well-received! What do you think is missing? What do you like? Or what would you like removed? Also, what articles take your interest (related to triathlon, of course)? For example, the effects of triathlon on the body, nutrition, more in depth discussions about training styles (high intensity vs endurance), bikes, running gaits, running shoes, injuries…etc. Email: laura@petewilbytriathlon.co.uk,  Thanks!

Happy Triathlon-ing,

Pete and Laura x
