WATTS UP

Hello All,

It’s starting to get light at 6 am.  WOOO!

Hopefully we are beginning to pull out of the winter.  The sun was poking through this morning on my ride to swimming but there was fluffy white stuff I the air.  Let’s hope the sun does its job and warms up so we can get some decent training in before the main season starts.

What a weekend!

The competition in elite triathlon is steaming hot in the build up to Rio.  Jodie Stimpson is on the best form ever with her 1st place at the Abu Dhabi Triathlon World Series race.  She really is the top dog right now.   Our Adam Bowden was only 71 seconds behind Spain’s Mario Mola who took Gold for the men. Bowden narrowly missed out on a top 10.  In cycling Wiggins and Cavendish take home the gold in the Madison and Laura Trot regains her Omnium title.  Britain are leading the world in cycling and triathlon.  Wow!

So, the season will start soon

In some ways it has already started.  Freak Events have the first duathlon of this year on Sunday 13th March, The Peaky Freaky.  It sounds interesting with a 4.5km run, 30km bike, 5km run, 15km bike, 5km run, 15k bike.  Apparently the runs are the ‘peaky’ bits with some steep hills.  Sounds awesome.  Good luck if you are competing.  Laura and I are really looking forward to competing in the sister event (The Leaky Freaky) in May.  Enter a FREAK EVENTS Race here. Unfortunately I can’t make the Peaky as I committed to helping with first aid at Exeter Tri Club’s Sidmouth Aquathlon.  This is the second in the four race series. The Aquathlon series is a great kick start to the season with a 600m pool swim and 5km run.  You can enter on the day or online.  Well worth a try.  ENTER HERE.

It is not long to go until the GeoPark Adventure Sportive on 8th May.  This is a 60km ride open to all.  There is also a 40k ride open only to riders of the female variety.  Loads of other exciting events in Torbay are being organised by GeoPark Adventure.  ENTER HERE.  If you are currently being coached by me, contact Brendon through the Facebook page for a discount: https://www.facebook.com/gpadventure

The inaugural Titan Dartmoor is coming to Dawlish Warren on 2nd July.  This is going to be a tough middle distance race.  The swim is in the sea followed by 58 miles and 6000ft of cycling then a sea level half marathon.  Lots of locals taking part.  The race is organised by DBmax.  You can ENTER HERE. And, to help you prepare you can join us for a famiurisation weekend on 27th and 28th May
